"He carries the burden of the country for 21 years," said Kohli. "It was time we brought him around our shoulders."

India became the first team to win the second final in a horrible, as Sri Lanka beat Australia by eight wickets in 1996.

There was no winning farewell to international cricket, Muttiah Muralitharan, the only surviving than winning team ' 96, Sri Lanka and the world leading wicket recipient.

It was a night for ex-post. Tendulkar is the 100th international hundred, but born in Cup held proudly.

"Is the final thing and because to me," said Tendulkar. "Couldn't have asked for anything better. It is the proudest moment of my life ".

The Tendulkar 37-year-old choking back tears as he accepted the Medal, but it wasn't because of a painful loss he suffers in final 2003 or group stage exit last time.

"Be happy tears," he said. "So you won't remember crying."

Apparently prevented Muralitharan from niggling injuries slowed him and not allow the spring needs for extra round that has been baffling to retrospectively for a generation.

The result was also the first Mahela Jayawardene to score a century in a World Cup final and the end until a losing team. It also meant semi-finals back-to-back defeats to Sri Lanka.

India had to defeat former World Cup winner — including three-time defending champion Australia in semifinals — to win the title for the first time since Kapil Dev's squad upset the West Indies in 1983.

Anyone who doubted the size of the Indian people's passion for Cricket just take a look on the streets across the country, where millions of people partied into the early morning hours.

The match twice, with tilted the India on top at the start before some late hitting under the leadership of Jayawardene and the middle tier.

Lasith Malinga removing two Indian openers in an express pace opening spell to keep visitors on track, but has long been India's batting lineup remained fairly calm, to keep grinding.

Tendulkar was epnixan in champagne from his colleagues, such as the Indian Brigade made the trophy around the Wankhede Stadium amid Scrum of cameras and fireworks blazing from the roof.

There was traffic chaos on the adjacent marine parade, with the way that engagement with honking cars and motor bikes-waving Indian flags, horns and letting off fireworks.

Yuvraj Singh, who scored an unbeaten 21 in an unbroken fifth-wicket partnership with Dhoni and was voted player of the series, the Indians said "batted like champions."

"This is incredible. This is the most special for the whole of India, for PYRGOY, for the whole team. It is just amazing. We batted like champions. "

Sangakkara said he was proud of how the Sri Lanka tournament favorite pushed the limit.

"I am very proud of everybody, Mahela Jayawardene who rose above all this with great hundred," he said. "Has a great tournament.

"I must say how India played really deserved the label of" Favorites. "

Even when removed Virender Sehwag Malinga, LBW for a duck on the second ball and then Tendulkar, India was 31-2 in the seventh over and Sri Lanka are celebrating.

Gambhir and Kohli (35) and then combined to revive the innings to an 82-run partnership which received fresh impetus away from Sri Lanka.

Gambhir was on 30 and the total in 68-2 when he fell on the outfield with Nuwan Kulasekara.

Tillakaratne Dilshan broke the partnership with a brilliant return catch.

But when Dhoni promoted himself up the order, with the total at 114-3, when a captain of steadying influence was necessary. Passed 6,000 runs in ODIs when reached 42 and brought up the 50 with a backfoot cover drive against Muralitharan imperial.

Dhoni and Gambhir combined for 109 runs before Thisara Perera finally ended in the first century stand of the match, Gambhir succumbed to another rush of blood, he resigned the tone in a bid to reach the hundreds with a threshold, only to lose his middle stump.

That left India required 52 runs off 52 balls with six wickets in hand. Not a problem for Dhoni.

Earlier, Jayawardene scored a calm and composed of 103 from 88 balls to post only the sixth century in a World Cup final.

The 1996 champions made a sluggish start twice after winning the toss, the first three Upul Tharanga (2), Dilshan (46) and Sangakkara (48), slightly for a rare time misfiring in the tournament.

Zaheer Khan flew perfectly and not give up a run in the first three remaining issues, taking a vital early wicket to remove Tharanga, as Sri Lanka detection at 31-1: 10 remaining. But it was costly to the end, when Jayawardene brought up the century with successive boundaries in the 48th over.

And while he finished as the equal leading wicket taker of the collateral in the tournament with 21, will be disappointed with the latest figures of 2-60 after the first five issues of the remaining cost just six runs.

Sri Lanka scored 63 runs in the last five remaining issues in a batting powerplay, including 24 in the last nine balls.

The match started amid some confusion when match referee Jeff Crowe Chair ordered a second toss of a coin, because he could not hear the call to Sangakkara. Sangakkara has won the second roll, a rarity in international play, and was relieved to forget first.

When Sangakkara was on 48, Sri Lanka slipped to 122-3 and India had done a lot of hard work, removing three retrospectively, who was among the five leading scorer in the tournament. But Jayawardene introduced the Middle-order, and gradually to lift the run rate with a combination of finesse and flourishing boundaries and ensure at least one competition.
