Take Care OF Your Ice Hockey Equipment

If you think taking care of your ice skates does not take much time, you would be wrong. Like anything else, the more you take care of it, the longer it will last.

If you do not take care of skates, you could find they no longer usable in a very short time. When you exit the ice surface, put skate guards over the blades. These guards protect the metal blades from dirt and other things that can dull them.

These skate guards should be places on the blades as you step off the ice. These protective guards are not meant to stay on all the time.

Moisture can get in there and cause the blades to rust. A rusty blade is a ruined blade.

An ounce of prevention will go a long way to making your skate blades last. Some people say to dry them off with a towel after every use. Once you dry the skate blades, cover them with fabric. The guards that go on the skates are only for walking. A fabric guard will soak up any extra moisture there may be. When storing your hockey skates at home, make sure not to enclose them in a bag. Let them breath and dry out. Taking care of the equipment for ice hockey is a very big concern. If you have crappy equipment, you will play crappy.

If you do not see that maintaining your stuff is just as important as the other aspects of the sport, then you probably won't last long.
